Got home from San Francisco in the wee hours, so I'm not quite focused enough to do a thorough summary and analysis, but here are the quick highlights:
- Met with the 2 guys who are running Almanac Brewing Company - a great business model based on using local resources and produce to brew their beer. Definitely something that Louisiana breweries like Bayou Teche, NOLA Brewing, and Abita do already.
- Got to see Magnolia Brewpub's new facility in Dogpatch and had a great conversation with owner and head brewer Dave McLean both at the site and in his car when he drove us in post-ball game/rush hour traffic to our next appointment at the Thirsty Bear.
- I had my only beer cocktail of the trip at the Thirsty Bear, along with some very nice Spanish tapas
- Twenty-First Amendment is a solid brewpub with some really excellent beers. Very nice staff as well.

Loved Bitter American, didn't try the Watermelon. But love the graphics on both! |

Beer at Mikkeller SF |
- Lagunitas has some amazing beer at their brewpub.Their gueuze, session ale, and the rye barrel-aged cappuccino stout were all amazing. Lagunitas is well known for their hop bombs, which are excellent, but it was awesome to see some other strengths in their arsenal.
- Russian River is busy all the time, it seems! It was packed at 2pm on a Monday. I had some really great beer there, of course. I also met some cool folks too, including the co-founder of Newburyport Brewing in Massachusetts.

All in all, an excellent, excellent trip with great beer and great beer people. More detail to come.
