Quick Hit Friday

Drinking a NOLA Brewing Rebirth Pale Ale while watching the Roots of Music band,
which will be receiving a portion of the proceeds of the beer.

I'm heading to Shreveport today to check out Great Raft and Red River Brewing, but before I go, a few things to share:

Also, I found out that the folks from the TV show Brewdogs will be coming to New Orleans and will be brewing their signature collaboration beer with NOLA Brewing. The presentation and tasting of the beer (along with free crawfish) will be filmed at NOLA on Thursday, April 24 at 7pm. Come out and show the world we support local craft beer here in New Orleans! Check out the Facebook event page for more details.

Looking for a free Friday night activity? Head over to Cafe NOMA at the New Orleans Museum of Art for a crawfish and beer demonstration which will feature Bayou Teche beers. Starting at 6:30pm.

Tomorrow is NOLA Brewing's Annual Easter Keg Hunt, which they hold every year to benefit The Gulf Restoration Network. This year's scavenger hunt will be in the Irish Channel, so get appropriately costumed up, get a team together, and meet at the NOLA Brewing Tap Room at 1pm. It's a lot of fun.

Got to hang out with Jeremy Cowan, founder of Shmaltz/Hebrew Brewing (in NY) a little bit last night at the Avenue Pub. Apparently he spent some time here in New Orleans right out of college between living in San Francisco and moving to NYC. It's been a year since he opened his own brewery, moving away from contract brewing, and he seems exhausted but thrilled about all the changes that has brought to Shmaltz. He's here celebrating his birthday, so if you see him, buy him a beer! Or a cider or cocktail, because Passover.

Last but not least: I start a new gig next week as a freelancer for Eater NOLA! Shout out to Matt for bringing the opportunity to my attention and encouraging me to apply.

Have a great weekend and Easter, if that's how you roll.
