Release of Swamp Grape Escape

The relationship that Louisiana brewers have with local crops, farmers, and culture is one of the things that makes brewing down here so special. Louisiana's been "farm to table" way before that was a thing, and to borrow the motto from my friends over at Almanac Brewing, the "farm to bottle" movement seems to be alive and well in the brewing community as well.
The upstairs balcony bar at the Avenue Pub was heaving with people wanting to try the new beer, and I couldn't blame them. It's very cool when a well respected brewery like New Belgium wants to partner with a smaller local brewery like NOLA Brewing.
And the beer was really nice as well - the 5% ABV makes it OK to have a few (I had three last night) without falling down the stairs on the way out, and the grape flavor was present by subtle. It played very well with the fruity/spicy aspects of the Belgian yeast. The mouthfeel was silky smooth but had a nice contrasting pop of carbonation. Nice dry finish. I enjoyed drinking Swamp Grape Escape very much. A great go-to beer that is a step up from a regular pale ale or amber or blond, but is still approachable and very, very drinkable.
If you missed the tapping last night, never fear! According to my handy schedule of events, you can find it tonight (9/24) at d.b.a. on Frenchmen Street, J&J's Sports Lounge in the Bywater, or on the Northshore at the Barley Oak; tomorrow (9/25) at the Bulldog Midcity; and Friday (9/27) on cask at the Avenue Pub as well as served in various permutations (aged in wine barrels, spiked with Brettanomyces and in its regular form) at NOLA Brewing Tap Room's "Pour Choices" event in the afternoon.
