American Craft Beer Week is a-comin'!

So, I've finished up my annual schedule of events for the Gambit. Hats off to all the breweries, bars, and distributors for getting all the requested info in to me in a timely manner - it gets easier every year!

Here's my article and schedule in the Gambit - and I'll be keeping an updated version on this website, as I have done for the past few years.

I wanted to discuss in particular the event that New Belgium is co-hosting the Girls Pint Out at SoBou on Thursday, May 14. The brewery is releasing/has released a new pear ginger beer in its Lips of Faith series, and has teamed up with the greater Girls Pint Out organization to work with 12 chapters across the country to do an event on the same day, during ACBW.

New Orleans' GPO event will be happening at SoBou on 5/14 at 6pm with the fabulous Abigail Gullo creating original beer cocktail recipes. $15 gets you a sample size of all three creations as well as a regular size version of your favorite. There should also be some snacks and awesome swag, like copper mugs. Check out the Facebook page for more info and to RSVP. Looks like the max will be 30 people there, so you're gonna want to get there as close to 6 as possible!

Also, as always, the Avenue Pub will have high quality events all week long, culminating in the always fantastic Grand Tasting, which will have great stuff on draft and bottle pours (which is a great way to get a taste of some of these rare beers without shelling out upward of $25, $30 for a bottle).

Keep an eye out for some of the new players in town, like Junction, Snooty Cooter, Wood Pizzeria, World of Beer, and Ale On Oak. And tried and true places like both Bulldog locations have been stepping up their games as well.
