WYES this week! A chance to win free tickets TONIGHT!

This Friday and Saturday are the WYES fundraising beer events: Friday's Private Beer Sampling and Saturday's International Beer Festival.
I've been working on helping them out proofing their guide and was given the opportunity to write a history of the event for inclusion in the guide as well. You can find a pdf of the guide here, so you can get an idea of what will be served. This is a great opportunity to try beers from the breweries-in-waiting like The Old Rail, Gnarly Barley, Mudbug, Great Raft, 40 Arpent, and Cajun Fire. That's probably what I'm most excited for. Also the many many homebrewers showing off their labors of love.

There are a lot of cool things from local commercial brewers like Chafunkta's experimental FontaineBlue Berry Wheat IPA, a 6.5% one time (or is it?!?!?) offering described thusly: "Following the culinary tradition of blending lemon and blueberry, this moderately hoppy wheat IPA blends the citrusy flavors of Japanese and American hops with fresh Louisiana blueberries." That will be at the Friday night tasting, and I am so excited to try it! (PS- did you know that Chafunkta is now available on draft in New Orleans as of this week? Go get you some!)

I also have 2 tickets to give away for Saturday's huge and epic tasting at Mardi Gras World near the Convention Center. All you need to do to win them is to come to the Louisiana Craft Beer Collective's meetup tonight at Evangeline in the French Quarter and buy a beer. That's it! Your name will be entered in a raffle and we'll announce the winner before the end of the night. (Please RSVP if you are planning on attending.)

Hope to see you all tonight, Friday, and/or Saturday!

I discuss much of the above also in my latest Brewsday Tuesday column.
