I've got a new post up on The Alcohol Professor about my GABF experience. It's been a while since I had the opportunity to contribute to them, but hopefully I'll have more stuff published there soon. Almanac Brewing's founder Jesse Friedman also published a post about a brewer's take on GABF, which was cool.

This week's Brewsday Tuesday focuses on the two new breweries in Shreveport, Great Raft and Red River, who have just been licensed by the state to start brewing. (NOLA.com also ran a piece on the new Shreveport breweries) I also had a post published about a couple beer dinners happening this week - last night's at Dat Dog and tonight's NOLA Brewing dinner at Delmonico.


Hopefully the Houma Point of Vue article on the Bayou Beer Festival and my next contribution to Where Y'at on beer bars in the city will be out in the next week... keep an eye out!

In other local news, Courtyard Brewing is moving forward with setting up their on-premises microbrewery in the Lower Garden District by securing a location and talking to the neighborhood association. Donuts.Sliders.Brew opened on Magazine and Jackson, which may not seem like a beer-related item, except it's right next to Stein's and due to weird laws, although you can't drink the beer you buy at Stein's while at Stein's, you CAN drink the beer you buy at Stein's at Donuts.Sliders.Brew. They even have a quick chiller!

Tonight, at the Avenue Pub, is owner Polly Watts' celebration of St. Crispin's Day. A self-professed Shakespeare dork, she is offering significant bar tab prizes for the best recited versions of the famous Henry V St. Crispin's Day speech, as well as debuting a new specialty cider from Crispin.

Bayou Teche continues to explore their French beer heritage with a new collaboration beer with French brewery La Bambelle. It's called Bayoust and there's a bit more about it in Beer Advocate magazine.

In the wider world of beer, science continues to prove that beer is good for you. YAY!
